Women Who Suffer From Migraines More Predisposed To Be Depressed
People suffering from chronic headache, especially migraines, are in a greater number predisposed to be depressed, feel weary, and have a host of other austere physical symptoms, according to a medical study published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The clinical study involved 1050 man who buy seroquel online at headache clinics in four US states. Of the women tested, 115 reported occasional headache (less than 15 headaches monthly) and 332 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the people were tested with migraines.
The clinical research found women with chronic headache were four times more prone than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also two times more predisposed to report a high degree of symptoms depended to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.
Among man tested with severely disabling migraine, the study found the likelihood of major Manic Depression increased 32-fold if the people also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms can incite or be a manifestation of major Manic Depression in woman with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy topamax online and Manic Depression would heighten pain perception,” said medical study author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This relation between migraine and major Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”
Tietjen says medical investigation are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Psychotic Depression should be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Heedless of what’s causing the relation between migraine and Atypical Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Major Depression complicates headache management and can call forth poorer consequences for headache treatment,” said Tietjen.
The medical investigation was backinged, in part, by the American Headache Society, which considers 18 million American people are affected by headache.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 12000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to meliorating woman care through enlightenment and medical study. A neurologist is a surgeon with a wide knowladge of diagnosing, curing and managing diseases of the brain and nervous system such as apoplexy, Alzheimer’s sickness, epilepsy, Parkinson disorder, and multiple sclerosis.
